del Calera Via Ferrata
Near the town of Ramales de la Victoria, you’ll find several Via Ferrata routes, including this stunning one. As always, all routes are free to access.
This one stands out because it cuts through the Calera Ravine!
The Via Ferrata is for experienced climbers and requires a good level of fitness and muscular strength, as you’ll need to support your weight at certain points. The route is well-maintained and equipped with staples and sometimes flat stone sections for movement. During the climb, you’ll encounter various obstacles such as two zip-lines (requiring a pulley!) and two suspension bridges. Throughout the ascent, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the ravine and the waterfall!

If you’re in the area and keen to tackle this or any other Via Ferrata route but don’t have climbing gear, you can rent it from Nor3. Personally, I didn’t have a Zip-Line Pulley with me, which I was able to rent there. The staff are friendly, helpful, and English-speaking. They’re located in the town of Ramales de la Victoria. It’s also possible to do this route with a guide. Check their website for opening hours and address.

You can park opposite Nor3 (tourist info) and walk to the route from there. This walk takes about 20 minutes, but keep in mind you’ll need to walk the same distance back after the climb.
You can also park at the starting point of the route, but parking spaces are limited. Make sure to arrive here early in the morning.

The entrance and beginning of the route can sometimes be difficult to spot due to parking in front of the information boards. The entrance to the via ferrata starts at the roadside where the paved road transitions into an unpaved road from the parking lot.
